Before you buy
Will it fit my bike?
Yes. The kit fits every motorcycle we've tested, including sport bikes, cruisers, adventure bikes and even three-wheelers. You can see it on lots of different bikes, with real customer photos and reviews, in our Instagram highlights at @nytronlights.
Is one kit enough for my bike?
Yes. One kit covers a whole bike, and every bike on our website runs a single kit. The kit has 8 strips (two each of 90 cm, 75 cm, 50 cm and 35 cm), so you can light the frame and the fairings. Riders buy a second kit for a riding partner or a second bike.
Is there a deal on more than one kit?
Yes, and it's automatic at checkout: $30 off each kit when you buy 2, and $50 off each kit when you buy 3.
Is it waterproof?
Yes. The kit is built for rain, road spray and normal washes. Just don't submerge it or aim a pressure washer straight at it.
What does it look like during the day?
The strips are black and sit flush along the bodywork, so they barely change the look of your bike by day. The LEDs are clear, and so are the strip ends, which are the part you mostly see, depending on your layout.
What's in the box?
8 waterproof light strips in 4 matched pairs, the controller, a power cable with a built-in safety fuse and an on/off switch, 2 rolls of 3M tape, alcohol wipes, zip ties, a mounting pad for the controller and an install tool. You control everything from our app on your phone.
Order and shipping
How much is shipping, and how long does it take?
Shipping is free, tracked and worldwide. Orders ship within 24 hours and arrive in 4 to 10 business days. We ship from our warehouses globally.
Where is my order?
Track it any time at nytronlights.com/apps/tracking with your order number or email.
My tracking hasn't updated yet.
That's normal for the first days. Your order is packed and labeled, and the first update can take a little while to show. You'll see it on the tracking page as soon as the carrier scans it.
Tracking says my parcel is in my city.
It should arrive any time now. The exact moment depends on your local carrier, so keep an eye on updates and keep your phone on in case the carrier calls or texts.
I didn't get an order confirmation.
Confirmations go out right away to the email you used at checkout. Check your spam and promotions folders, and check for a typo in the email you entered at checkout.
Install
How long does install take?
About 20 minutes, plus 20 minutes for the tape to set before you ride. It's quick and simple. Most of that time is laying the strips out on your bike until you like the look. The power cable goes straight to the battery, so nothing gets cut into your bike's wiring.
Where do I find the install steps?
Your free Bike Fit Map + Setup Pack has a fit map for sport, naked, cruiser, touring and adventure bikes and a step-by-step install, and the full walkthrough is on our setup page. The short version: get the app, set Pix QTY to 200, test every strip, stick them down, and switch off when you park.
Where should the strips go?
Frame, fairings or both, and most riders do both. Start from the fit map for your bike style and run one length per side, mirrored. The maps are starting points, so move a strip wherever it looks best on your bike. Keep strips away from exhaust heat, the chain, suspension, tires and sharp edges.
The wires don't reach the front of my bike.
Put the two 35 cm strips at the front. They carry the longest cables (65 cm), made for far spots like the windscreen. If you need more reach, add a 50 cm waterproof extension cable ($12), which plugs in between the controller and a strip.
Can I trim or bend the strips?
Yes. Most bikes need no trimming, because the four lengths are made to fit, so lay out all 8 strips first. If a strip is still too long, trim only the extra at its far end, cut straight and clean, and keep that cut end out of direct water spray. The strips also bend and fold to sharp angles, so ease them along curves rather than forcing them straight.
The strips won't stick.
Wipe the spot with an alcohol pad, let it dry fully, then press the strip hard for 30 seconds, especially at the ends. Wait 20 minutes before riding. Tape grips best on smooth painted panels, just inside the fairing edges, or on the frame, so move strips off textured or grainy plastic. Every kit has two rolls of tape, and an install usually uses one, so you have a spare.
App and lights
Only part of each strip lights up.
Nothing is broken. In our app, open the device settings and set Pix QTY to 200, and every LED on every strip lights up.
The colors on my bike don't match the app.
Open the app settings and change Light Order from RGB to GRB. Every strip will then show the color you pick.
The app won't connect to the controller.
Stand right next to the bike, since metal bodywork weakens Bluetooth. Quit the app fully, switch the kit off and on at the inline switch, then reopen the app and wait for the controller to appear. You need iOS 12 or Android 12 or newer, and the range is about 10 m. The app dropping the connection when idle is normal, and there's no need to forget the device in your phone's Bluetooth settings.
Where do I get the app?
Go to nytronlights.com/pages/app. It opens the right store for your phone. The QR code on the back of the controller opens the same page.
How do I get flowing effects, or change the speed?
The app has over 200 patterns. Modes 153 to 160 are the single-color flow effects, and there are dedicated modes that bring the lights on from dark. Use the Speed button to speed an effect up or slow it down.
One strip stays dark.
Unplug that strip and push the plug back in until it clicks. The white plug sits inside a black sleeve, and the sleeve can look connected while the plug isn't fully home. Then switch the kit off and on. If it's still dark, plug a strip that works into that same connector. If the working strip lights up there, email us a photo and a short video with your order number and we'll sort it.
Power and battery
How do I keep my battery charged?
Flip the inline switch off when you park. The controller uses a tiny bit of power while it's connected, and over days of sitting that can flatten a battery. The inline switch is the real off, so make it part of parking.
The lights came on by themselves, or my battery went flat.
Turning the lights off in the app doesn't always hold, so the inline switch is the only true off. Mount it on the outside of the bike, where you can reach it without lifting the seat, and switch it off every time you park. If the battery is flat, charge it or jump-start the bike.
Where should I mount the switch?
Anywhere you can reach it without tools, so it stays easy to flip off every time you park. The spot shown in the Setup Pack is a recommendation, not a rule.
Nothing lights up at all.
Check that the on/off switch is on, then check the safety fuse, then make sure both battery leads are tight. Red goes to positive (+) and black to negative (−).
Warranty and returns
What does the warranty cover?
Every controller, strip and harness has a 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal motorcycle use. If a part fails, it's replaced free, with nothing to send back and no deduction. To claim it, email us a photo of the faulty part and a short video with the kit on, showing that part dark while a working part lights on the same connection.
My kit arrived damaged or wrong.
Email us a photo or video with your order number. We'll send a free replacement or give you a full refund, and you won't need to send anything back.
Can I return the kit?
Yes. You have a 90-day money-back guarantee from delivery. Send back the complete kit (the controller, all 8 strips, the cables and any free gifts that came with your order) and we refund the full price once it arrives. It can be installed, and used tape and alcohol pads are fine. Kits that come back damaged or with parts missing can't be refunded in full.
How does return shipping work?
In the US, we email you a prepaid return label and deduct $10 for the label from your refund. Outside the US, we send you the return address and you pay the return shipping. Before you return it, check the Install and App sections above, since most problems are a quick setting or connection fix.
When will I get my refund?
Within 10 business days of your kit arriving, back to your original payment method. Your bank may take a few extra days to post it.
I'm in the EU or UK.
You can also cancel within 14 days of receiving your order, for any reason. Return the kit unused in its original packaging, you pay the return shipping, and we refund your order, including the original standard delivery, once it arrives.
Free gifts
What comes free with my kit?
Every kit includes a Reflective Balaclava, motorcycle earplugs with a carry case, the embroidered Woken by the Dark keychain, and the digital Bike Fit Map + Setup Pack.
Do I need to add the gifts at checkout?
No. Order the kit as usual and the gifts come with it.
Where is my Bike Fit Map + Setup Pack?
It's digital and arrives by email after your order, so check your spam and promotions folders for it too. The same install steps are on our setup page.
Which earplug size should I use?
The earplugs come with 4 tip sizes. Start with medium. If it feels loose or lets wind in, go up a size, and if it presses after ten minutes, go down a size. The right size seals without pressure.
Can I buy extra earplugs or keychains?
Yes, for a riding partner or a spare: motorcycle earplugs and the Woken by the Dark keychain.
